Urban Planning and Human Health Postdoctoral Research Fellow —1


The Center for Healthy City at Tsinghua University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position starting in early 2019.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Jun Yang and colleagues to undertake a research project on heathy cities in China. The project’s specific research goal is to assess the impact of Healthy City movement in China, which include evaluating the health outcomes at individual cities, identifying progress and knowledge gaps, and making policy and management recommendations. This positon will require a combination of literature review, field surveys, data management and analysis, technical writing and publishing.

Position Details:

  • The position is fully funded through Tsinghua University for two years and includes a competitive salary and benefits package
  • Work will be performed at the Center for Healthy City, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China


Required qualifications:

  • Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in urban planning, public health, environmental science, public management or a relevant field.
  • Previous doctoral or postdoctoral research must demonstrate experience in data analysis and programming in languages such as R or Python
  • Independent research ability via first author publications and initiative submitting responses to competitive funding opportunities
  • Ability to be present in Beijing if the position is offered.

Urban Landscape Perception and Human Health Postdoctoral Research Fellow—2


The Center for Healthy City at Tsinghua University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position starting in early 2019.

We seek an outstanding individual with a recent Ph.D. who is pursuing interdisciplinary research in health benefits of urban landscapes. Areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) application of VR, AR and computer vision technology to explore the relationship between urban green spaces and residents' perception; (2) the impact of urban green spaces on human recognition ability and stress; (3) explore measures and techniques of green space planning and design based on residents' perception and psychological health.

Position Details:

  • Work will be performed at the Center for Healthy City, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China


Required qualifications:

  • Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in landscape architecture, environmental design, environmental psychology, computer science or other related research fields
  • Previous doctoral or postdoctoral research must demonstrate experience in 3D landscape model construction and digital image creation and analysis
  • Independent research ability via first author publications and initiative submitting responses to competitive funding opportunities
  • Ability to be present in Beijing if the position is offered


Preferred qualification:
Experience in monitoring human health with wearable monitors and portable equipment
